A_zero Environmental Architects

A-Zero Architects is a distinguished RIBA chartered practice situated in the heart of London. Since our inception in 2010, we have dedicated our work to designing and procuring buildings that do not negatively impact the environment. Our ethos is deeply rooted in sustainable residential architecture, passive house design, and energy-efficient homes.

Our portfolio spans across various services, including green homes design, eco-friendly house construction, low carbon footprint houses, net-zero homes construction, and renewable energy homes. We are committed to creating sustainable living spaces that incorporate green roofs for houses and utilize sustainable materials for home building. Our expertise extends to solar design for houses, eco-friendly architecture, and green home design for both new build sustainable architecture and retrofitting for sustainability in existing homes. We are advocates of sustainable urbanism homes and carbon-neutral houses construction. Our services encompass sustainable construction practices for homes, energy-positive houses, and green building materials for homes.

Our Approach

At A-Zero Architects, we work closely with our clients through all stages of a project, from feasibility, planning, detailed design, tendering, through to contract administration during construction. We strive to embed environmental considerations throughout these stages, combining functional, cost-effective architecture with a sense of specificity to the client and the place.

Our Team

Our team is led by Giles Bruce, Director MArch (dist), BArch, RIBA, SFHEA, who was educated in Ireland, Norway, and the UK. Giles has a strong focus on environmental design and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Ingrid Hu, Director BA (Hon) Theatre, MA Scenography, joined A-Zero Architects after working for Heatherwick Studio on a variety of design projects. Ingrid's commitment to exploring contemporary narratives through contextual research, materiality, and spatial experience greatly enhances our approach.

Awards and Recognition

Our commitment to sustainable design has earned us numerous awards and recognitions. In 2023, we were honoured with the Best of Houzz award. In 2022, we were longlisted for the Dezeen Awards - Sustainable Interiors for our Scaffolding Board House, and won the Schuco Excellence Awards 2022 for Best Individual Building for our Quarry House. We were also recipients of the Schuco Excellence Awards 2022 Sustainability Award for Quarry House, and were longlisted for the Don't Move, Improve! Awards for the Scaffolding Board House.
