Intervention Architecture Ltd (IA) is a multiple award-winning, RIBA Chartered architecture practice based in Birmingham. We are an interdisciplinary design studio with a talented team that boasts a rigorous design approach and an extensive exploration of ideas. Our work is deeply collaborative and open, embracing socially engaged projects and the arts. We appreciate the value of making, materials, and the collective involvement of communities in the design and making process.

At the heart of our practice lies a dedicated team of professionals who bring a wealth of experience in designing places with personality. We specialize in co-designing community-led architectural regenerations, collaborating with artists and appreciating the importance of making and materials in realizing our projects. Our Services

Our services include a wide range of architectural and interior design services that cater to various sectors, including community places, arts spaces, and learning environments.

Community Places

We work closely with communities to co-design and deliver community-led architectural regenerations. We bring together diverse stakeholders, from local residents and community groups to artists and businesses, to create places that are meaningful and relevant to the communities they serve. Our community place projects include the "Qweensway Ringway: it's giving Monumental Domesticity" proposal, a modernist icon that addresses the housing shortage in the context of climate change.

Arts Spaces

We create bespoke arts spaces that inspire creativity and innovation. We work closely with artists and cultural organizations to design and deliver arts spaces that meet their unique needs. Our arts space projects include the "Interfold Houses", a series of houses that respond to the specific requirements of artists and their families, and the "House of Two Courtyards", a flexible arts space that can be adapted to suit different types of artistic practices.

Learning Environments

We design learning environments that support teaching and learning. We work closely with educators and students to design and deliver learning environments that are engaging, flexible, and inspiring. Our learning environment projects include the "Make:it_Brum (i) Novelist's Retreat Pavilion", a creative writing retreat that provides a peaceful and inspiring space for writers to work.
