Building for the Future, One Project at a Time
At MWAI, we are a London-based architecture and interiors practice that is passionate about creating highly crafted, user-orientated, and sustainable buildings. With a team of experienced architects and interior designers, we work across all sectors, with a particular focus on residential, hospitality, and historic refurbishment projects.
Our Approach
Our approach is built on a deep understanding of the importance of history, sustainability, and people. We believe that every project we undertake has the potential to positively transform how people live and work. We take the time to understand each client's vision and brief, and our designers work closely with them to deliver spaces that are tailored to their needs.
Our Expertise
With a wealth of experience in working on projects that involve historic buildings, we have developed a keen eye for the subtleties of conservation and the complexities of planning issues. Our team is committed to finding inventive solutions that marry modernising the existing building with the needs of the client.

As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, we believe that sustainable refurbishment of existing buildings is crucial. We are committed to helping our clients transition to a more sustainable future, and we actively encourage sustainable thinking in our projects. Retrofit and Reuse
Almost all our projects over the past decade have involved working with buildings set in a historic context and in difficult planning boroughs. We have a particular expertise in dealing with new build, above ground or basement extensions and refurbishments of existing buildings in heritage landscapes, within Conservation Areas, or on Listed Buildings.
Our Philosophy
At MWAI, we believe that design should be a collaborative process that is driven by a deep understanding of the client's vision and brief. We believe in the importance of meticulous attention to detail, a keen eye for historical context, and a commitment to sustainability. We are proud to have built a strong reputation for impeccable client service, and we aim to be approachable but discrete, direct but considered, and rational but creative in all our dealings.
Teaching and Research
We are committed to supporting the next generation of architects and designers, and we have a lead design unit on the Masters programme at the Kent School of Architecture and Planning. We also engage in ongoing research and share our knowledge through publications and think pieces.
Think Pieces
We believe that design is not just about creating beautiful spaces, but also about solving complex problems. Our think pieces explore the latest thinking on sustainability, heritage, and design, and we share our expertise through publications and events.
