At ZM Architecture, we are an award-winning design studio that has been committed to delivering exceptional architectural services for over two decades. Founded in 2004 by Peter Richardson and Nicholas Blair, our studio has earned a reputation for its expertise in conservation, arts, housing, and commercial projects.

Our People

Our team is led by two directors, Peter Richardson and Nicholas Blair, who bring a unique blend of complementary skills and experience to the table. Peter has over three decades of experience in the architectural industry, with a specialization in arts buildings and sustainable design. Nicholas has over 20 years of experience in architectural practice, with a strong background in conservation architecture.

Our Services

• Arts Projects: We have extensive experience in designing and delivering arts projects, from community theatres to galleries and studios. Our team has worked collaboratively with artists to deliver innovative and engaging spaces that promote the arts.
• Conservation Projects: As RIAS-accredited conservation architects, we have carried out numerous projects across Scotland, including work on Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes, Townscape Heritage Initiatives, and other funding mechanisms.
• Housing Projects: Our team has expertise in designing and delivering residential projects, from new builds to refurbishments and renovations.
• Commercial Projects: We provide design solutions for commercial clients, from offices to retail spaces, ensuring that our designs meet the needs of our clients and their customers.

• Pumphouse Feasibility Study: A feasibility study for a series of pavilion structures in hospital grounds, designed with artist Jephson Robb.
• Inside/Outside: A collaboration with artist Jephson Robb to create five pavilion structures in hospital grounds.
• LAGI Glasgow: A winning collaboration and competition entry for a series of pavilions in a hospital setting.
• Reid Building Temporary Furniture Gallery: A temporary gallery space featuring Mackintosh furniture collection.
